‘Needles; I’d rather face a gun!’

‘I’d rather face somebody with a gun down a dark alley then have an injection’
this is the shocking statement that one listener gave on today’s Radio 2 show. Imagine the level of terror that just thinking about an injection gives this person. Are you the same? Does the thought of a sharp piece of metal piercing your skin and delivering a shot of liquid or drawing out your blood make you feel sick? If you cannot even think about a needle without feeling awful then you are probably suffering from Needlephobia.

Needlephobia can affect your life in many ways, fear of going to the dentist, going on holiday to exotic places, operations that need localised pain relief. If you are a Diabetic you may have a big problem if you hate needles.
A fear of needles often develops because of some nasty experience we had maybe in our childhood. That discomfort and terror carries with us into adulthood. As one listener put it
‘when it comes to needles, I used to be a hysterical child and now I am a hysterical adult’.
So is it worth getting worked up every time you have to have an injection or give blood? Not if there is a simple answer to releasing you from fear. Thought Field Therapy works by disconnecting a memory from the emotion. This has the fundamental effect of changing the level of threat that a needle represents. If the memory feels OK then suddenly the fear is greatly reduced and often just disappears altogether. The treatment is rapid, effective and non-invasive (unlike needles!)
